"So you have to go off to meet Rachel again huh?" retorted Carrie. "When are you ever going to spend time with me?" she lamented. "Please understand this alright?...I'll call you tonight." shouted Clive as he hurried off. As Clive turned and walked away, he can't help but think of the predicament he's in. It was a miscalculated risk that he shouldn't have taken in the first place. "I'm Damned!" he kept scolding himself clearly remorseful and guilt-ridden. He knows it, Rachel is the one he truly loves. Carrie, she's a "misadventure". But, he's in it too deep already. It all happened after Rachel graduated. He got involved in a group project and that's when he met cute and fun-loving Carrie. It started all so innocuously, group meetings in the canteen...slowly...smaller group discussions and later, meetings over coffee just between them both and inevitably, things became more complicated. Clive who initially thought of it as a harmless thrill and at the same time, convenient company for him following Rachel's busy schedule as a budding bank officer, soon found himself entangled in this irreversible 3 months affair. He steps on the gas pedal, hoping to reach Rachel faster so that he can spend more time with her. He hoped that by treating Rachel better, he could redeem some of his sins. Nevertheless, he know's he's only kidding himself. "This has to stop!" he remembers saying this umpteen times. But when??? Finally, in a distance, he saw Rachel standing there outside her workplace waiting so fervently as always and at the same time, so oblivious to her lover's betrayel. He slowed down and as he approached nearer and nearer, his heart pounded faster and faster. "God! Why must Brad's prophecy come true???" |
